Best time to bird watch in Jamaica plus bon fires and jokes

Postby Nanoose » Fri Oct 09, 2009 7:09 pm

One of the things I would like to do if I ever get a chance to visit Jamaica is to
do some bird watching (feathered birds) and I have been wondering if there is a certain time of year in Jamaica that is best for bird watching ( like is Jamaica visited by migrating birds at certain times of the year – that way I could watch local birds and migrating birds).
The other thing I would like to do is have a bon fire on the beach and swap jokes with the local yokalls. It will be about 5 years before I can travail so I would like to start building up my jokes but am not sure what the local yokalls will find funny.
I once had a Jamaican buddy tell me jokes about Trinidad would go over well but I’m not into that type of humor. Any way if I can’t think of any jokes I could always show the locals how we dance on Vancouver Island. Cheers and happy week end!

I've only been in April and September and there were plenty of birds. Up in the hills you can find wild parrots and humingbirds. Jamaica has some record size moths which I have never seen but I saw some bats with 2 foot wing spans!

Big bats would be way cool to watch we only have small fruit bats we also have humming birds around here but it would be nice to see a parrot in the wilds – I have only seen them in pet stores. Cheers!
