I'm ready for the Blizzard of 2011! Got a brand new snow shovel. Actually, it's a coal shovel, but I figure--with a shorter handle and a wider load--it'll be an excellent snow shovel. Still have my old snow shovel--even tho it's held together with about a mile of duct tape, it's still serviceable after more than a dozen years of use, and I can't bear to throw it in the dumpster. Maybe I'll have it buried with me, along with the fire extinguisher, 50-lb bag of ice, and quart of gin.

This winter I'm gonna stock up with a minimum of six cases of beer and a case of Wild Turkey bourbon (and lots of frozen pizza) just in case we get hit with back-to-back blizzards like last year. Who knew the federal gov't would be shut down & we'd be stuck inside for an entire week? Even when you could get to a grocery store, all the good frozen pizza had been scarfed up, and all that was left was those ersatz overpriced California pizzas!
