I'll sublet my place in exotic, multicultural northern Va for a cheap weekend break. I'll even serve as your personal guide to interesting local attractions like Bunnyman Bridge (http://mrnizz.blogspot.com/2006/08/inci ... ridge.html) and Wahoo's former four-bedroom dream house in the suberbs (before his marriage went south).

For a small fee I could arrange for you to have your photo taken with the owner of the Esso gas station in front of his World Famous Gnome in Nanoose Bay, British Columbia.
For a slightly larger fee I could also tell you the secret of why they made the gnomes hand so large. Cheers!

PS I hope I don’t have night mares because of that killer bunny story

Nanoose, for a coffee can of BC's finest, I'll catch that killer bunny, skin it, and fricassee it for you.

Nanoose, if you see any gung-ho, hard-charging Marine types lurking around your garden this week, DON'T SHOOT! One of them might be my son. He's somewhere in Canada right now. Don't know where. I asked him, and he said he couldn't tell me. :scratchheadblue:

I am wonder if it has anything to do with General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada (London Ontario) they are producing Light Armored Vehicles (LAV-A2) in various configurations for the United States Marine Corps so maybe they have to have Marine sequrity. Cheers!

I gave this a little more thought and I don’t think they would send in the Marians as security at a factory.
I am now wondering if it has anything to do with the Artic – lot of Countries are laying claim to it - Russia figures most of it is theirs and they usually have nuclear subs lurking around under the ice so maybe it has something to do with that. Cheers!

I just remembered the Nanoose Bay Naval Base – as far as I know it’s a Canadian Military base that tests air and under water communication systems with the American Navy and American air force.
Rumor has it that there is also a UFO on that base that was rebuild from a crashed UFO so maybe the Nanoose Bay Scientist and the Area 51 scientist are getting together to compare notes or something and your son is there to help secure the area.
It is a beautiful area and if they lift the fire ban I will send up a smoke single and invite him over for a home cooked super.
A few days ago I was thinking about how they used to send a solider out with a spool of wire to set up a communication line now a days they can communicate and maneuver satellites with a lap top. Cheers!

I think you're pulling my leg about Nanoose Bay Naval Base. I googled it and all that popped up was lots of links to websites of tattooed women! :yipes:

Anyway, it's mighty neighborly of you to invite Wahoo Jr over to your yaard for a home cooked meal. Hell, he might even entreat you to kick back and relax while he cooks a gourmet dinner for you and Mrs. Nanoose. He's a pretty capable cook. He prepared an authentic Korean BBQ dinner for me once that brought tears to my eyes.

Well if I recall you figured I was pulling your leg about real hash plants.
Here is a link about the base if you check out the part called “back ground” it explains how the Untied States is involved.
I didn’t read much of it but it is mostly saying it is a torpedo testing base but from what I hear they mostly test communication stuff now a days.
As far as the real hash goes if your son happens to be in Montreal Canada he would be able to find it - they love their hash in Montreal. Cheers!

Nanoose, got an e-mail from my son. This past week he's been in the province next to yours...not far from JamCan, actually. Can't wait to hear the details when he gets back home.

Well if he is on vacation I hope he is sitting in the Bamf hot springs with a couple of Rancher Daughter’s and they only have a few days left before they go back to collage so they know they got to party hardy plus they are sharing a room with a couple of Sweadish stewardes - if he is on duty it will still be like a vacation because that’s a nice part of Canada. Cheers!

He didn't say anything about hot springs or Swedish stews or ranchers' daughters, but I don't think he's exactly roughing it, either...he mentioned being put up in a hotel near a couple of shopping centers and even a Five Guys (though "it's EXPENSIVE as hell" he says). Even so, he says it's very rural--vast fields and farmland mostly. His unit's there on some sort of joint training/preparedness exercise...can't divulge many details, but sounds pretty interesting...even slightly James Bondish.

Nanoose, the arctic survival school I was sent to at Eielson AFB (20 miles south of Fairbanks, AK) when I was my son's age was honchoed by a Canadian Air Force dude...young enlisted guy (in fact, I think I even outranked him), but he knew his stuff about wilderness survival. If my plane ever went down in the arctic or subarctic, I'd want to be in survival mode with that guy...or one of the Kardashian girls.

A relative of mine was sent all the way up to Maine to attend the cold weather survival school........funny thing is that he grew up in the same area so most of the stuff was not mind blowing to him.

I could survive in the BC wilderness but would probably be a dead man if I had to survive in the artic.

The following is a true piece of Canadian history and a story about a diabolic tailored trip for the Inuit people.

In the 40s or 50s the Canadian Government needed people to live in the artic so they could lay claim to it. So they approached the Inuit people that were living in another part of Canada and said – hey how would you like to relocate to the land of milk and honey were you will find new homes to live in and supplies to get you through the winter.
The Inuit people said sounds good and they were loaded onto trucks and they moved to Beverly (hills that is) – I think that’s what Canadian Government told them anyway they were really heading to the artic – the homes were tents and there wasn’t enough supplies.
But the Inuit people survived off the artic wild game - years later the Canadian Government approached the Inuit people and said – we think you would be better off on a reservation instead of this harsh artic climate and the Inuit people said – no thanks we like it here –
nice sun set. So the Canadian Government said fine but I hope you know that you are subject to the department of wild life and fishery rules and regulations which only made it harder for the Inuit to survive. Eventually (and illegally) the Canadian Government sent in the RCMP to kill all of the Inuit sled dogs so that the Inuit would have no chance of surviving and have to move to the reservation.

Cheers!

I read "North into the Night" a few years ago and I'm pretty sure some of them are still up there. I think they spread out from the original village...my memory could be off so I'll dig up the book.
