Broken Toe?

Postby ECO » Fri May 06, 2011 4:20 pm

Anyone ever broken a toe and if so how long does it take to heal?

Pretty sure I broke my baby toe hiking my last night in JA and it still hurts like holy hell. I can manage without shoes but even working in oversized boots it hurts.....hurts like 9-10 beers are needed to cure it. :givemebeer:

Hate to go to the doc for him just to say give it time and give me $20 for the co-pay.

You're right, the doc will just collect his copay and can't do a damned thing for your toe, but if you tell him you'd rate your pain as 10 on a VAS pain scale, where 10 is "worst pain imaginable," and wince and moan convincingly, you might be able to persuade him to write you a prescription for Percodan. Tell him you can't sleep, too, because of muscle tightness related to the pain, and ask him if he can prescribe a muscle relaxant, too--such as injectable Valium preferably. He might get suspicious, though, if you keep coming back to him with more broken toes.

I've lost a couple of great toe toenails ("runner's toe," where they turn black and fall off, but then grow back), but only one broken toe. In fact, the same toe (the toe next to the little toe on my left foot) was broken twice. I think the doc gave me a few Tylenol 3 and advised me to avoid sports activities for a few days. That toe's now all knarled, and the toenail resembles a snail shell.

Sorry, never had the misfortune of a broken toe. Try and stay off your feet so it can heal...don't know if if will help. Maybe Wahoo can give u a bottle of his Red Stripe beer, I am sure it will help.

And then there's Murphy's Law: The broken toe will be the toe that you'll jam into the leg of the coffee table when you're barefoot and inebriated, that a full six-pack of beer will drop onto, etc.

In other words, you'll keep fookin' up your toe till it's as knarled with a toenail like a snail shell as Wahoo's twice-broken toe.

Lol, I can't take pain meds since they make me mean like a rape victim. I could however get the the scripts and trade the meds for people to do my work for me......

@ Rose, everything is 80% fine if I don't wear shoes even if I'm on my feet favoring my good foot. Once I put on shoes or boots that pain gets the best of me. Who would think a little toe could cause so much pain and doesn't do a damn thing for me when it's not broken. It's not like a finger that is useful for something!

@Wahoo, no worries about knarled nails, my toes turned all sorts of colors but as of now the nail is looking good.......could use a cleaning but I can't complain.

I think your forgetting that Bob Marley died from a toe injury you should go see a foot specialist. If you get a pain prescription and sell or trade it for work you become part of the problem not part of the solution and the war on drugs will never be won. Cheers and happy week end!

Eco, if it's any consolation, I suppose a broken toe is still better than a broken nose...or erectile dysfunction. :yipes:

Nanoose, I've seen pain meds ruin friends of mine so no worries about me getting them and giving/selling them.

Wahoo, I'll take a broken toe over a broken penis any day!

So, I went to see Mr Casual (my doctor today)....I love his approach..."it might be broken or it might not be, either way it hurts you. I could send you for xrays but regardless of what they show I'm going to do the same thing for you..." As I knew, there is not much you can do for a broken toe but I just wanted to make sure it was not going to heal at a 90 degree bend that would cause issues with me wearing shoes. Looks like I'll have another 6-8 weeks of discomfort.....discomfort....it's f'ing pain when I wear shoes! Oh well, I got two scripts for chemical meds that I filled but I doubt I will use. Vicodin for pain and Piroxicam to relieve swelling.

Are you sure you didn't step on another sea urchin, like the last time you were at Alfred's Ocean Palace, and have spines stuck in your toe? Or gout?

Let me get this straight: you went to see Dr Casual and didn't even ask for a medical ganja prescription? :scratchheadblue:

The last time I visited my doctor, the pervert stuck his finger up my butt. And that cad didn't even send me flowers or chocolates for Valentine's Day!

Hmm...not sure if they can prescribe it yet in MA for pain. I know they can issue those chemical THC pills to cancer patients but those things are not the greatest things know to man (dosing is horrible).

Dr Casual freaks out if I'm nakid and downright refuses to give me any ass play! On my first visit the nurse asked to me to strip down and when the Doc came in he got all red and told me to put my pants back on. Now I am never asked to strip down. When my father got colon cancer I wanted Dr Casual to check my @ss and he refused saying he would not do any @ss play until I was 45 or so.

Mental note, don't drop Ipad on broken toe ever! While it saved the Ipad from maybe an early death, it hurt like hell!

Just in case someone was wondering if broken toes are a good way to save expensive electronic devices.

Saw a news report today where some Japanese kid sold a kidney to buy an Ipad. I might be tempted to sell one of my (slightly used) kidneys for a pound of high-grade...or both kidneys for 2 pounds of high-grade...

Eco, my advice to you is to invest in a sand blaster now, to regularly sand blast your bum toenail so it won't end up the shape and size of a periwinkle shell by the time you're my age.

And wear socks so your dates won't see and be repulsed by your hideous deformity, or you'll never have sex again. Trust me!

Better make that a kilo of celestial grade. If I give up both kidneys, my last hours are numbered and I want to go out in style. :dreads: :dreads: :dreads:
