ID Cards in Jamaica

Postby ECO » Fri Oct 16, 2009 5:43 pm

For people who live in Jamaica and don't drive, are they issued some sort of ID card by the Government?

In the US our people who don't drive have them to write checks, buy booze and show them to the police when they feel the need to harass people.

The reasons why I was wondering:

Bars in JA don't ask for ID's like they do in the US ( I still get "carded").

While I'm sure people in JA write checks at local stores I as a tourist have not witnessed it yet.
