To darn hot

Postby MZKUMA » Tue Aug 25, 2009 3:31 pm

I have had to keep the AC low and my electric bill has doubled. My bill usually runs 49 to 79 dollars monthly. Now it's 195 - 196 dollars a month. I sure hope the cool comes soon as it did last year. Hamburger  Just messin with my budget! :-(
At least I'm not in Tx.

I don't run mine at all. The kids like to use one in their bedroom but I'm fine with just ceiling fans. My cars are another story, I like a nice cool car.

MZ, @195 a month.............have you thought about a smaller mansion to cool :jestercolor:

The unit is big enough. Just the heat outside causes it to use more energy to keep it cool. My living space is about 1650 sf. No mansion at all. lol

It might be time to look into a more fuel efficient heat pump, I think they have federal tax credit programs in place for them ($$$-$$$$ back from the feds).

It is a heat pump. 2 ton 14 tiers or 16. My bill never is this high in summer. 160 tops. We got 150 dollars rebate from the elect company after the purchase. October the unit won't have to be on daily. I'm in FL, so it's hot.

Lol, for some reason I thought you were up north somewhere.

If you live in Florida you get really nice winters, cheap airfare anywhere, cheap oranges and the list goes on and on.........so IMO they benefits outweigh your AC bill.

BTW, which part of FL, my father lives down in St Cloud and I use to have relatives in Miami, Beverly Hills (west of Ocala), Fort Lauderdale and Boca.

LOL@ cheap oranges. Most Floridians laugh at the thought of paying for citrus :rolling: . If you didn't have the trees in your yard the neighbors, friends or relatives did. I haven't eaten citrus in years. When people bring them to you off their trees, they more than likely go bad. My husband is from Jamaica and he is the only one who eats them. I only get free oranges, tangerines and grapefruits :left: ...which I hate..
I live in Polk County. That's central Fl. 45 minutes from Orlando and Tampa.

Lol, I was down in Miami years ago building a giant deck with a friend of mine for some rich people and our day labor staff stole all of their grapefruit from one of their trees. We promptly fessed up only to have the clients thank us since they did not eat them and normally they would have to pay someone to get rid of them before they rwould fall and rot.

Citrus and palms add to property value.
