99 days until Jamaica

Postby ECO » Mon Jan 03, 2011 5:26 pm

I have a countdown thingy on my phone and from time to time I'll check it to see how long I have until my next reach...around 99 days now! While I have yet to set my exact dates the middle of April seems like a good time to go....plus there is going to be a 45 year celebration of I and I reaching the island (Rasta thing, look it up).

Passport= Check

Vacation money= Check

Plans= Check

Just a crappy countdown to go....... :???:

When you go thru Customs and are asked "What is the purpose of your visit?" just tell him/her "Sex vacation." :jestercolor:

Ok, time for my annoying habit of checking airfare daily and not being happy until I find something between $300-$350 round trip.

$360 give or take for either Mobay or Kingston add almost $200 if I want to return on a Sunday instead of doing a Tuesday-Tuesday trip! I gotta see how much I'll get nailed flying into Kingston and out of Mobay.

$114 for a one way to Kingston on Spirit.

Hmm, coming back all of the flights under 400 take a day for me to return= no good!

Returning from Kingston= $260 + $160 going to Mobay= too much money!

When & where? I heard about the 45 year thing a month or so ago and have not heard a word since. It should hopefully be a great celebration of when he first came to JA!

You'd best check your bag and make sure that Egyptian cobra that escaped from the Bronx Zoo isn't hiding in it. If that cobra somehow got on to the Acela Express train from New York to Boston, it could've been in Boston within hours of its escape from the zoo. :yipes:

Don't forget to pack a bottle of vinegar. It's supposed to be the best first aid for sea urchin spines in the feet. I've also heard that urine is effective, but the last time someone peed on me it cost me extra. :jestercolor:

Nah, I'll pee on myself like the last time I got those damn spines.

10 days to go...... this time I'll post my trip report on the blog just for shits and giggles.

oh....which one of you are going to take over the admin position here when I'm gone?

Also, this April I will donate all of our google ad money to http://www.theodoraproject-negril.org/ Generally I buy stuff for the kids and a few other projects but this place needs money bad and if they can do what they have been doing I'm glad to give them our money.

31 hours until lift off.

Knocking off those last minute things from my to do list but keep on finding more things to do.

Last one added.....scrap purple wall paint (from painting my daughter's room) off of my finger nails. If I forget, they will chop me up thinking I'm some battyboy.

You lucky dog! Say, if you have any run-ins with the Red Stripes (the police kind, not the brew) on this trip, how about begging and pleading for a patch that I can present to Maj. Spooner to put on his bulkhead at the Globe & Laurel. That would surely get the attention of the G&L regulars. (As an aside, how far away are you from Lynn, Massachusetts? There's a Lynn PD patch among those at the G&L, donated by a good pal of ours--a former Marine Captain--whose brother is on the Lynn PD force.)

I'll keep an eye on things here while you're away. Have fun!

Lynn, Lynn, the city of sin! Depends on traffic maybe 40-50 minutes give or take. Lynn is a tough town!

I'll see if I can grab a patch for you. Wish I had time to hunt in my attic, I have a small collection and normally when you ask for one you trade one.

So listen to this, the last two times I got a taxi/limo ride to Logan (BOS) they charged 70-80 or something like that. Today I was quoted 102&142 everything was crazy high. I called back the 102 place and they said they could not find a driver for me at that price or something...fuc dem. I ended up booking the 142 place....there goes 50+ out of my meager vacation budget...that's 25 Red Stripes!

Same ting happened to us back in the eighties. We'd been visiting my (ex)wife's relatives in Boston and needed to get to Logan in a heavy snowfall. Cabbie socked it to us. The fare, as I recall, was over $100 (1980s dollars).

I'm tempted to quit my current low-paying job and move to Boston to be a cabbie and make some real bucks, but frankly driving in Boston scares the crap out of me. I've driven on the notorious LA Freeway and in NYC and on the DC Beltway and have survived taxi rides in Jamaica, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic, but just thinking about Boston traffic gives me nervous tics.
