Did Wahoo Get Washed Away?

Postby ECO » Fri Nov 13, 2009 6:40 pm

Areas from the Middle Atlantic region will continue to see wind, rain, coastal flooding and battering waves but overall impacts coming down.

Areas around the Virginia/North Carolina border have picked up from 8 to 13 inches of rain.

Just looked out the window and watched a house float by! I don't think it's ever gonna stop raining! And you all know how much I hate to get wet! ;-)

Get out your fishing rod in case any dead deer float by your home.

Funny you mention dead deer floating by. One summer when I was 15 or thereabouts, pals of mine, whose relatives owned a hunt club in central Va, and I spent a lot of time camping out on the bank of the Rivanna River on their property, night fishing for catfish, just by feeling the tension in the fishing line in the total darkness (though we caught eels mostly...nasty sumbitches...they'll bite the hell out of you if you're not careful), and frolicking in the river and fishing for smallmouth bass during the day, just like Indians had done at the same site for centuries before us. One day we were wading down the river, fishing for bass. I was chest deep in the water and casting for bass when something out the corner of my eye caught my attention. I glanced down as the bloated carcass of a dead deer floated by, just inches away from me, in the current. I almost heaved the catfish I'd eaten the night before!

What I wouldn't give to relive those careless, blissful days.
