Fall--Before Winter and After Summer

Postby ECO » Sun Nov 21, 2010 5:09 pm

Even though it's almost the end of November it seems like fall has just hit us. All the leaves or at least most of them are on my lawn and I have a giant list of crap to do before the snow hits the ground.

-Raking leaves....56% done and the other 44% can wait until the spring.
-Have the snow blower serviced......almost cheaper to buy a new one that will last 3-4 years without a $$$ service.
-Work on putting my potted plant soil back into my compost bin and working in leaves and such <---this is a must do!
-Cleaning my gutters<---laughing at the thought!
-Reading a book on growing grapes so mine will fruit next year unlike the past 3 years.....a must do!
-Seeing if I can transplant my strawberry plants indoors for the winter and if they will fruit during the winter---must do!
-Installing a $2000 garden window in my kitchen that I've owned for the past 2 years so I can grow stuff during the winter and start my seedlings for the spring.

Anybody have any plans for what is left of the fall?

Them's some ambitious plans! I'm still bummed out 'cause nothing--nothing--I planted on my deck last spring grew. Didn't even sprout! I tried several different plantings from seeds I'd saved from stuff (green beans, squash, okra, eggplant) I grew in my half-plot in the community garden years ago, but I guess they were just too old.

Don't give up on the grapes. Viniculture is all the rage now. You can't drive anywhere in rural Virginia these days without passing a new vineyard. They're as ubiquitous at deer carcasses on the side of the road!

College boy son--the LAX player--came home on Thanksgiving break yesterday afternoon, and before dinner time he'd gone thru just about all my beer! :naughty: I love my son, but at this rate he's going to overstay his welcome by mid-week!

I've heard that some of the plants that we grow will not produce seeds that are useful. You see, the people with the prize winning plants do not want people to buy one of them and use the seeds or sell the seeds without giving them a likkle profit. That is why there are several underground seed exchange programs on the internet to beat the bastards who modify their stuff so others can't use it. I have some seeds on my desk but if I send them to you the Dee eeee aaaa might show up on your door with some free bracelets for you.

Yeah....um seedless grapes.....grapes ganja...they all start with a g....

New fall project: closing down my warehouse and moving my crap to my father's barn in Maine an into my basement and shed. Renting a warehouse for $5000 a year has been a great place to keep my work stuff but I need the 5k more than I need a place to keep my crap....

If I had $5,000, I'd invite one or two deserving friends of mine to join me for a couple of days of rest and relaxation in Negril, Jamaica...I'm just saying.

Okay, in all fairness, if I had $5,000, I'd probably invite my favorite asian massage parlor masseuse to join me for a long weekend in Negril, but only on the condition she go topless on the beach and keep my cup of Red Stripe filled...
