I never do anything special on these types of holidays since it seems like everywhere you go it's busy.

Do you have plans Rose?

Happy Labor Day to those who're off for the holiday. I made the mistake of checking my office e-mail and now am dreading going back to work tomorrow. Even though I did a couple of hours of office work at home this morning, I'll need to go in a couple of hours early (or stay a couple of hours late) tomorrow to partly make up for the Labor Day holiday.

Had a hankering for cornbread, so I'm making a batch rite now. The recipe calls for one egg. I had two eggs in my fridge, and even though the container says "Use by April 05," I cracked one and it wasn't rotten. I'll save the other egg for another time. Or maybe to throw at my noisy neighbors the next time they come home from the bars at 3:30 a.m. and are waking the neighborhood with their loudness.

Yes, stay in bed all day.
It's very cloudy out--it may rain.

It's to celebrate Marcus Labour who brought beer and the first portable BBQ grill over on the Mayflower giving people a reason to chill out and party. Since the propane to power the grill was not yet discovered he was lynched but later people honored him with Memorial Day as well.

Or

Another BS holiday since most of the retail workers are forced to work long hours.

Or

Rose21 was correct it the first place.

The greatest day of working retail for me was when a store that use to make everyone work on the holidays was shut down by the police. The town had some stupid $100 fine for being open on a holiday and the store paid it every time since they were making $xx,xxx a day. After several years of people complaining the police showed up and ordered the store closed and all of the employees sent home. The best part was that state law dictated that you have to pay your employees for the day once they showed up so everyone got paid time and a half (holiday pay) to sit at home and party!
