How expensive are Jamaican night clubs?

Postby Bruce » Tue Nov 10, 2009 6:48 pm

I am trying to budget a trip to Jamaica and want to see if in the long run staying in a regular resort will be cheaper than one of the ones that include everything. Since I like to party at night <all night> I need to know how much it costs to get into a dancehall-nightclub in Jamaica and how much they charge for drinks.

Also, I was reading that during spring break some of the places offer a pay one fee and you get all your drinks included, do places offer this year round?

You will have a totally different experience if you stay at an AI. Although it may cost less, you might as well go to Miami. Negril is the place to be if you want to party and most of the resorts there are not AIs. Regarding how much drinks cost, it all depends on where you are at- just like in the US. The concerts make their money off of entrance fee; I found the cost of drinks at an open-air beach or street party reasonable, cheap by American standards, and you can buy an entire bottle. Most of the people at a street party are locals, so drinks are prices accordingly. Concerts at places like the Jungle, that cater to tourists, have more expensive drinks. Sorry I can't tell you the exact price of a drink, because that is not by mind-altering substance of choice. I'm sure Eco and Wahoo have the nitty gritty on the exact cost to get belligerent every night.

Stick to the non tourist places and you will pay $2.00-$3.00 US for a beer at the tourist traps you will pay double that. Cover charges (if any) are maybe $5.00 unless you go to Shades (live sex show) and they want something sick.........I think $15-$20. Some of the places you can haggle with but try to only do it to busy places, the small places need the money.

I can't speak for Wahoo but I can't remember the exact cost of booze after being exposed to first hand smoke all day? 8-)
