Ignorant things my government has done

Postby Nanoose » Wed Oct 07, 2009 10:51 am

Awhile back the BC Government announced that they would no longer pay for
dentistry work for low income families. When the people said – ya but if people have bad teeth how will they eat their food? The Government said well we will buy them a food blender. I thought that was very ignorant of them. Cheers!

I did a web search and found some info about the body bags and the blenders

This is how the Canadian Government explained the body bags

Health Canada says dozens of body bags shipped to Manitoba Aboriginal reserves
in flu preparedness kits were part of "routine restocking" of supplies.

But

Grand Chief David Harper, who represents Manitoba's northern First Nations, says the body bags are insulting to his people, particularly since death is "a very sensitive issue" in his culture. Aboriginals never actively prepare for death, since they believe that there is always hope of recovery, he says.

People on social assistance who now must wait at least two years to obtain a full set of dentures because of changes to provincial dental benefits can apply for money to buy a blender to help them process their food, a government representative said Thursday .

How long does it take to get a full set of dentures if you go to jail? That would be sad if inmates got them quicker than people on the outside.

On another note, while I stay clear of the news & politics, I thought the US was in love with the health care system up there in CA...........if so I'm happy with what I have now.

I thought they were joking about the blender.

I think the US gov't can one-up you on the ignorant things it's done. I would start on a list but it would take me so long I would need dentures by the time I was done, and I don't have dental insurance.
