JAB filters and Detroit Rock

Postby Nanoose » Wed Sep 22, 2010 11:10 pm

Whenever I think about the JAB filters I think about Detroit’s rock and roll music scene in the 70s and 80s because it was bad (not the bad kind of bad but the good kind of bad) .
(Ted Nugent – Alice Cooper and lots more bands started in Detroit’s bar scenes) and in case you didn’t know Soupy Sales was also from Detroit
Here is a video of a Detroit band in the 80s when they were in their prime and really bad. Cheers!

What's pushing us apart isn't loneliness what's holding us together isn't love. Listen to the man who's been touched all his life yes he's the one they call the fool. Where is that savoir of the sidewalk life and the road that takes us to the crusades? We still got along way to go yes we still got a along way to go.

I was never into Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, who had several hit songs (Devil With the Blue Dress On, Little Latin Lupe Lu, C.C. Rider) in the mid-60s, but I did have the pleasure of seeing them perform when they played at JAXX nigthclub in Springfield, Va, a few years ago. My son's band(s) have played at JAXX numerous times.

The local legend is that many years ago the JAXX building was a seedy XXX movie house. Don't know if that's true or not, but I can believe it. :jestercolor:

The Amboy Dukes were a Detroit band that had a #1 hit on the charts in the 70s their guitarist was Ted Nugent. Cheers!

A few bands from the suburbs of Detroit

The Pleasure Seekers were an all girl band that started as a garage band in the suburbs of Detroit in the 60s. I don’t think their around any more but their music did open up the door for other girl rock bands.

The Underdogs started out as a garage band in the suburbs of Detroit in the 60s – Bob Segar was a member of the group and he later formed his own group – Bob Segar and
the Silver Bullet Band

The Fugitives started out as a garage band in the suburbs of Detroit and I think their still rocking to this day.

The Fugitives before they were a bad *ss Detroit bar band
