Jamaica Airport Transfer Questions

Postby ECO » Fri Aug 14, 2009 10:41 pm

I have a few questions about airport transfers to hotels:

1. For the non private ones, do they pack 3 people in the backseat?

2. Generally how many stops do they make? I'm trying to figure out how long they would take to go from Mobay to Negril.

3. Do they generally make a bathroom stop along the way?

4. Are there any bus ones that stop at a million places that I should stay away from? I sort of like the sound of $20 each way but don't want it to be a repeat of Mexico when it took us an extra hour plus to make a ton of stops.

Thanks

My airport transfers (including tips, though I still tipped the driver handsomely) have been included in my hotel package. The bus always makes one 15-minute rest stop at a roadside stand midway between Lucea and Negril, but be forewarned: Red Stripes are $4.00 a bottle there. There're brief stops at hotels along the way to unload vacationers, but even so the drive is just an hour and half or less, which passes quickly while you're taking in the scenery and goat-watching.

Thanks for the link Damswell, $80 is way too much but $18 is more than fair.

$4.00 a bottle= roadside robbery! I can handle 1.5 hours, I'm just trying to avoid a 2-3 hour trip.

On long journeys - the family drive or we will hire a driver, and if the family hire a driver I have no idea how much it cost, cuz I don't pay it. Soz :D

I knew how much it cost to go to Ochie earlier this year, because I asked beforehand seeing as I was paying for that one. I still think I was robbed though

I found a place last night that had a chart of all of their rates, from Mobay to Mandeville they charged something like $250 for a private ride! Your free rides must save you a small fortune on your trips!

Hopefully my friends down there will join me in Negril or I will have to see how much a ride will be from Negril to St Ann :-(

Just make sure you've drained your Red Stripe before you pay the bar tab.
