Jamaica Street/Beach Interviews

Postby ECO » Fri Jan 01, 2010 11:51 pm

I've been toying with the idea of producing a bunch of short 3-4 minute "street interviews" while in Jamaica this spring. Instead of walking around asking people for permission I figure I'll just offer it to people that hit me up for money........ $200-$300JMD for a 3-4 minute interview.

The benefits;

1. I get a random sampling of how many people will turn down 4 minutes worth of work for enough money to buy a meal.

2. The person who is hitting me up for money gets a meal or enough money for 2 beers.

3. We get to ask questions that we might not normally ask of a stranger.

I need some help coming up with interesting questions so please suggest a few or a few hundred.

This guy exchanged the rights to a few photos for $50JMD last fall.

My list of questions so far;

1. If Jamaican's are so casual with time compared to Americans, why do they drive so fast?

2. What are your feelings about foreigners being issued work permits?

3. What's the dumbest question a tourist ever asked you?

4. Would you be willing to sign a petition to bring back the train service in Jamaica?

5. Do you laugh at tourist that say stuff like "ya mon" or think it's cool that they are trying to fit in?

6. See, I need help with this..........

The only question I can think of at the moment to ask is, "Got high grade?"

For the cost of a Red Stripe, you can interview me for 3-4 minutes. :jestercolor:

More questions:

"Heard any good blonde jokes lately?"

"Who's hotter: Zahna Redwood (Miss Jamaica) or Bashment Barbie Celeste?"

Here's my tourist one for you: Did you know that the trees with a white stripe around them means that the body of a white person was used to fertilize the tree when it was planted? <---That's just a rumor that I started so don't go posting it on the internet since it might scare people. :jestercolor:

I've always wondered what the purpose of that white stripe around the trees was. I just assumed it was a voodoo hex.

What's pushing us apart isn't loneliness what's holding us together isn't love. Listen to the man who's been touched all his life yes he's the one they call the fool. Where is that savoir of the sidewalk life and the road that takes us to the crusades? We still got along way to go yes we still got a along way to go.
