Jumping The Broom

I watched a movie that had a wedding tradition in it that dated back to when slaves were first brought to Jamaica. It was illegal for slaves to get married so in a secret ceremony the couple would jump over a broom together and when they landed on the other side of the broom they were forever man and wife. Wondering if jumping the broom is still part of Jamaican weddings. Cheers!
