Let’s compare our penal system

Postby Nanoose » Thu Jul 15, 2010 10:46 pm

19 months ago there was a drug related homicide on Vancouver Island.
(in a nut shell) a 23 year old man beat a 43 year old man to death with a wrench - he hit him in the head 13 times and 10 of the blows caused skull fractures - then he through the body over board (it was on a boat that he stole too).
A few days ago he had his trial and was sentenced to 9 years less the 2 years served and would be eligible for parole in 7 years.
The first thing I thought when I heard the verdict was – it’s only been 19 mouths not 2 years - guess our penal system rounds things off. I also figured that it’s a good bet that he will get paroled in 5 years ( which should actually be 5 years and 5 months). 7 years seems to be our average sentence here for brutal murder (drug related or not).
I am also intresting in how hard time is in your Country – Canadian prisons are no picnics but we don’t have chain gangs (not mandatory anyway) Cheers!

Well lets hope he gets Penilized a LOT in prison!!!!!!!!!

In Aruba holding cells at the police station are worse than prison itself... When arrested you will have to spend 10 days in there.. you get to shower once a day.. the water runs down the same hole where you would have to do your other bathroom needs... when it fills up with too much water or gets clogged.. you may experience yesterday's breakfast floating around in your cell in a way less presentable way then when you ate it... ORRR maybe it wasnt even YOUR breakfast :birdiered: (I just really wanted to use that smiley).. Prison isnt all that bad.. There are about 20 cells for women.. All cells hold 3 women... they actually have toilets... babies are allowed to stay with their mom in prison, in this case mommy and baby get a cell to themselves.. and more than 50 aunts to babysit the baby while mama goes to work for $2 a day in the garden or library LOL... dont ask me how I got all of this info... trust me when I say my resource is more than trustworthy ;-)

Hmm prison in Holland.. guess I gotta ask around first.. I'll get back to you on that... all I know is that here you can get arrested and serve time for not paying your busfair LOL

Ya and the person that handed out the penalization had a “long” sentence.
This brings “up” a new “point” - chances are that because this guy is big and vicious he isn’t going to get penalized but some one who isn’t as tough probably will.
I figure some convicts should be worked so hard on a chain gang that they would be to tired to even think about penalization. Cheers!

Was chatting one time with a fellow who'd done some time in a Virginia prison for drug trafficking. He was telling me about what great physical condition he'd gotten in while incarcerated.

"I could even run faster than the black guys!" he boasted.

"Yeah," I was thinking, "but you probably had to!" :naughty:

Last week my son told me that a guy he works with had heard some one in his house in the middle of the night. He got up – found a robber – punched him out then called the police. The police arrested the robber (who turned out to be a known crack head ) then charged the home owner with assault.
In our opium the guy was just trying to de-fuse the situation he had a wife and kids to think about – he will now wind up loosing time going to Court and have to put out money for a lawyer. The cops had the choice of charging the home owner or not charging him but even with a couple of scared kids in the room they decided to press charges. Going to add that the punching out was just enough to put the guy on the floor and make him think twice about getting back up. Cheers!

Was going to say he should've at least knocked the crackhead's front teeth out, but he probably didn't have any. :jestercolor:

If that guy had stashed his cash rolled up in rolls of toilet paper--like I do--he wouldn't have to worry about being robbed by crackheads. :bs:

Just thought I'd add that I have to hide my rolls of toilet paper when GhettoGurl and JamCan visit so they won't clog my terlet.

If I ever serve time, I hope it's in Maryland so I'll be entitled to a couple of taxpayer-funded college degrees and can advance to white-collar crime when I'm released on early parole. :scratchheadblue:

Nanoose, a few years before I moved to my home the previous owner's son (sh*tbag criminal) was under a neighbors car trying to hot wire it....he was also an idiot. Two of the other neighbors found him and proceeded to beat him silly while one of the wives called the police. Lol, since she gave the police a running account of the beat down. Once on site they said that since he was getting a beating they took their time responding to let street justice work. later that same kid ending up stealing a TDD (deaf people phone) from another neighbor.

Not so funny but soon after I bought my house the police surrounded the house late at night looking for him. I about crapped my pants answering the door seeing 15 cops out all of my windows. They said that since the kid would generally dive in the lake to make an escape they also had officers on the other side of the lake.

Here you can only use “equal force” they push you – you push then similarly – they break your nose you break their nose similarly – they through some of that baking soda that they use for free basing crack in your eyes – you through some of that baking soda that they use for free basing crack in their eyes. Probably if you didn’t have any of that baking soda that they use for free basing crack and you substituted it with pancake mix – it would be against the equal force rule because the mix had MSG in it and the cops would find a way to charge you.

I like the getting a collage degree thing – I bet it doesn’t all become wasted tax dollars and not all of them use their education as a way to do new crimes. Probably all done on line so it wouldn’t be as expensive. Cheers!

I support votech type of degrees, but not anything that will give them access to good white color crimes.....those are reserved for people without a criminal past.
