Local talent

Postby Nanoose » Tue Jul 27, 2010 2:20 pm

Thought it would be interesting to see some entertainment from JAB members area.
This video is from a group that lives and preforms in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island.

What's pushing us apart isn't loneliness what's holding us together isn't love. Listen to the man who's been touched all his life yes he's the one they call the fool. Where is that savoir of the sidewalk life and the road that takes us to the crusades? We still got along way to go yes we still got a along way to go.

I'm not a big fan of rap, but that is a catchy tune and the groupies are easy on the eyes. Somebody ought to warn that bear, though, that I shoot first and ask questions later...just in case I ever come to Vancover Island loaded for bear.

Well if you ever come to Island loaded for bear you should consider that Vancouver Island bears don’t just poop in the woods they grow the ganja there too - so you would be better off to get some honey and party with them.
Turns out that the singer is a nephew to a friend of the family that died a few years back from drug and alcohol abuse – in the video he says he is laying in the sun sipping on OJ and I kind of think he learned a lesson from her death. It also turns out that the group makes a bit of money for youth charity’s. Cheers!

Here is a video of local jazz musicians performing at Milner Gardens. I used to be the head grounds keeper there when it was owned by Mrs. Milner who was a cousin to the Queen of England. One of my first jobs there was to design and build a pixie trap so that I could catch and move the pixie’s to a safe location before I cut the lawn. She originally hired me because she could tell that I was a man that could tell the difference between a pixie and a fairy - she was a bit eccentric). Cheers!

I was looking for a video of the Frontiersmen pubs talent night and came across this video of log home building on the Island which is a bit of a talent and the sound of a chain saw is music to my ears so I thought I would post it. Cheers!

Now that's what I'm talking about! I've always wanted a comfy, cozy log cabin in the wilderness, preferably miles from my nearest neighbor (but not too far from the nearest asian massage parlor). ;-) Sometimes I wish that I'd moved to the wilds of Alaska while I was still a young buck and squatted and built my own cabin. I could be perfectly content with that kind of life.

I did a search for some Vancouver Island bar bands and was only finding groups that would give you the impression that were a bunch of bumpkins over here but I finally found this one (it’s pretty cool but I don’t think you could dance to it). Cheers and happy week end!

I am stating to think that there is a group called KinFo and a group called Kin Fo because these guys and gals don’t look like any of the local yokels around here.
Cheers and happy week end!

I really like this song because it shows what some of us are up to on Vancouver Island and in a nut shell it explains our basic philosophy. I couldn’t find it on youtube so I included a link to the song on Dailymotion. Cheers!

Here is another Vancouver Island bar band – the Novamatics playing the theme from Thomas the Tank Engine.

Still hoping other JAB members will add some music from their area. Cheers!
