Mamadou Reggae

I had the honor of seeing Mamadou play live in Rockland Maine this past week and decided to give them a plug on here. If you like their music please check out their website to see if they are coming to a city around you.

Note, the following YouTube Video of Mamadou was not recorded at the concert I attended. Listen to the words as they send a nice message, I had fun explaining the meaning to my daughter who attended the show with me.

Attached are a bunch of pictures of Mamadou that I took at their concert in Rockland. There was a heavy mist in the air so I ended up having issues with my camera and had to leave before the water damaged it. I'm not sure if the poor attendance at the show was due to the weather or the fact that they were playing in Northern Maine where there might not be a huge Reggae fan base. I had a nice front row seat since most of the blue heads sat in the back and the only people dancing stayed in the back as well.

After hunting around for a version of "I Am Me" with better sound I e-mailed the band to see if they could dig something up that I can post. I might have to edit the title of this thread since according to this YouTube video their music is West African............sounds like Reggae to me, maybe someone can clue me in on how they are different? Whatever it is, I like it and I'm off to see if I can download it for my trip in the morning.

Tinks, thanks for taking the time with that post, I listened to a couple of the sounds and was able to pick put the difference in the drums. I'll have to spend some more time with it once I return later this week.
