Does it make sense to any of you?

He received a mandatory sentence of six months in prison and was fined $8,000 or six months for possession, $16,000 or six months for dealing in and $24,000 or six months for attempting to export ganja.
I should delete this it doesn't make sense Tinks wrote:hahahahaha...see!!!
His sentence is not clear is it!

Tinks wrote:So tell me something... ganja is like grass and quite light right?

The reality is this happens everyday out of that airport, I think they ran the news article to make an example out of him. My guess is it is happening even more as the economy makes locals feel more desperate.

Imagine if his wife or girlfriend planted the ganja in his bags![]()
I check my bags and everything in them several times before I leave JA just to be sure someonedid not leave a bud or a roach in one of the pockets.

ECO wrote:Nanoose.........wake up! Most of the smuggling coming out of Jamaica is targeted at people who are weak/in need. The payout comes at the backend when they reach the UK or the states. Assuming the ganja cost $200 (for 5 pounds) and they could resell it for $2000 when it reaches the UK/US they can afford to have one out of five mules arrested for bringing the herb over. With the current risks, ganja smuggling is way to risky compared to smuggling cocaine which pays so much more for such a little risk.
I would agree with you that mailing to drop boxes and taking the risk is somewhat safer but with ganja it is still a big risk!

ECO wrote:I was not clear but I meant if he is taking the risk smuggling $1000 or so in Ganja he should of gone for the gold.........white gold.....cocaine.

ECO wrote:Lol, I would not root for him either for smuggling cocaine. My point is that if money/profit is the only factor then ganja is not the best thing to smuggle. While on the subject, Jamaican ganja is not really the best ganja to smuggle if his motivation is just to have some great ganja to smoke at home.
Most if not all of the money spent on purchasing Jamaican ganja from a local stays local. Unlike cocaine where the money goes in 100 different directions, the ganja farmer does not generally have to pay off other criminals...........well maybe the po po from time to time.
Man, I'm feeling the need to put one of those "support your local farmer" bumper stickers on my car or my mule, maybe even my kids bike.
