MICE

Postby Batty_gyal » Mon Oct 19, 2009 4:05 pm

Ok so for some reason over time the downstairs door in my parents house...like the basement level has a slight opening under the door that mice can wiggle through. We patched it up...unfortunatly the little buggers have escaped to the other levels of the house. My parents have a pretty big house..so you can imagine how much fun they are having calling this home. Last night nearly had a freaking heart attack..one ran across my foot and went underneath the Piano. I could see it running in and out..taunting me....arrrg. Then I saw it again in the kitchen this morning and can currently hear it rustling around in the wall or the cubboard. Can't tell. My mother who takes great pride in her house and has put much money into making it a nice home...would probably drop dead if she knew these tiny devils had recently invaded. She gets back tommorow..so I was hoping to find some humaner ways to get rid of them...or just ways to get the mice out of our house so my mother keeps her sanity!

Anyone have any good mouse stories...followed by ways to get rid of mice?? I need successful methods of mouse ridding!! LOL

Help save my mothers future sanity.... :dreads: :tease: :tease: :rolling:

stick steel wool in any holes and if you can fit a pen in the hole a mouse can get through it.

Well I have a good mouse story and a way of getting rid of them.

When my youngest son was 15 to 17 he went through a stealing phase and he kept his room like a pig sty. We kept telling him stealing wasn’t cool and if he didn’t clean his room we were going to get mice
One day 2 cops showed up with a warrant to search his room – they started looking in the dressers then under the piles of clothes on the floor. When they checked under one pile a mouse ran out and across the cops boot and he shrieked like a little school girl. The other cop looked at him in discuss and I bet that cop got teased at the station for months after that.

Mouse traps work well but its kind of gross getting the mice out of the spring.

Here is a home made trap that works well.

Get a bucket or container that can hold at least five gallons and fill it three-quarters full of water. To make the killing process quicker add a couple of drops of dish soap to the water.
Place the bucket in the area of the yard or house where you are having the mouse problem.
Add a ramp to your bucket by resting a long piece of wood or plastic on the rim of the bucket. One end of the ramp should be on the ground, the other at the top of the bucket.
Place a trail of seeds on the ramp and some in the water.
Check the bucket in the morning if your mouse trap was successful dispose of the body and dump the water before trapping another mouse.

Cheers and good luck!

When I lived on the farm we use to kill them with a 22 cal pistol using bird shot. Note, don't try this unless the home has a rustic look!

D-Con (little green pellets) work well but the mice blow up really big after they eat it and they tend to stink since they seldom die where you will find them. Also the pellets taste good to kids.....my oldest daughter ate some when she was 2-3 and it caused a panic.

Good luck Ashley!
