A few days ago I was checking out a thread on this Forum
about public education in Jamaica. It was mentioned that Jamaican parents have to supply their kids with uniforms and pay for exams - and sometimes kids don’t get a chance to educate themselves because parents can’t afford the uniform and or the cost of exams.
I think that’s awful so I suggest we find a kid that needs a bit of help with the cost of exams and pay for it. I have $30 right now and will probably donate more ever now and then.
Maybe the child we help educate will be the one that discovers the cure for cancer or something cool like that. Cheers and happy week end!

I have to say though that I am somewhat reluctant to give money to organisations. I always wonder how much of my money is actually going to help, and how much is being taken up by "Administration"

We all go to Jamaica often enough, and I am sure that on one of our many visits one of us will come across a child that we can help if we want to.

Well I am also reluctant to give money to charities –
I once heard the United Way only gives a small amount (under 20%) to the
cause the rest goes to operating costs and huge administration wages.
But hey you’re an administrator and I got a feeling that if I gave you some
money to pay for a child’s exam it would all go to the cause – plus I figure you
would find a child that really deserves it and one who will study hard.
Jamaica and Beyond is a community and communities should help the less fortunate so maybe if we all donate a little bit we could do some good.
Cheers!

Nanoose, your thread just prompted me to load up on art supplies for the kids up in the hills in Jamaica. Hopefully I can talk them into doing some water coloring and I'll post it on the forum.
