Patrick Swayze Dies

Patrick Swayze, the balletically athletic actor who rose to stardom in the films “Dirty Dancing” and “Ghost” and whose 20-month battle with advanced pancreatic cancer drew wide attention, died Monday. He was 57.

His publicist, Annett Wolf, told The Associated Press in Los Angeles that Mr. Swayze died with family at his side.

Mr. Swayze’s cancer was diagnosed in January 2008. Six months after that, he had already outlived his prognosis and was filmed at an airport, smiling at photographers and calling himself, only half-facetiously, “a miracle dude.” http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/ ... ayze-dies/

While I'm not really a fan of actors, I really enjoyed some of his movies

He was so positive and determined even though no-one ever survives this cancer - I really wanted him to!

Think I'll watch Ghost tonite....

It's so sad but I knew the minute I saw how gaunt he was and how much gaunter he got....and the fact that he had severe pancreatic cancer...that he probably wouldn't make it. So few do..pancreatic cancer has a VERY slim chance of survival. Still he gave it a good fight...and never gave up. I'm so sad to hear of his passing. I love a few of his movies. He was a fantastic actor!

Hasn't anyone seen Point Break, in my humble opinion, his best acting performance? I love that movie! Everytime I've watched that action flick (based on true events) I've been as spellbound throughout the movie as I was the first time I saw it.
