The black part is a little rough but the rest tastes great! To me it tastes like scrambled eggs..........good scrambled eggs, not the crap at some place in Ochi.

Oh kidding about the black part, I'm not sure if eating the seeds is a good idea.

I'm not convinced ackee is a fruit. It looks like some sort of alien space creature that's intent on devouring you, like the man-eating plant in The Little Shop of Horrors. I wouldn't get too close to it, if I were you.

I want that!!! I'm sort of bummed 'cause ackee & saltfish was missing from the breakfast buffet at my hotel (though, to be fair, I might've presented myself in the serving line too early, before they brought out the tray, 'cause there was an empty bin labeled "Ackee & Saltfish" and they were bringing out trays of poached eggs and other selections while I was loading up my plate--I probably should have gone back a little later). I know they had ackee, 'cause rice & ackee was one of the offerings for lunch or dinner. I did have a scrumptious ackee pattie from Miss Sonia's one night.

I will eat so much ackee/salt fish, bread fruit, seafood that I will probably hate it once I get back to the states. Most of my money will be spent on food I'm sure.

Eat where the locals eat and you will save some money.
