Point Village in Negril?

Postby Babyuv3 » Sun Sep 20, 2009 11:00 am

Hey everybody,
Has any one stayed at the Point Village Resort in Negril? I have heard some people state that it is a good resort. Please let me know what you think. :tease:

I am used to staying at Superclubs....but this time I don't have Superclubs money :naughty: But I do want to stay somewhere nice and clean but affordable. Any feedback will be helpful.

Point Village is right next to Hedo II, so we know where Eco will be hanging out (so to speak). We discharged a few passengers at Point Village on my last visit in April, and it looked nice enough to me. Actually, I almost booked there instead of Grand Pineapple, in part because it promised great snorkeling, but it's at the extreme north end of the 7-mile beach and I wanted to be closer to the West End, or at least more central. Also, I read one bad review on TripAdvisor complaining about broken glass and trash in the water on the beach, which turned me off (though I usually don't let such reviews sway me one way or the other).

I say go for it. And since Hedo II is right nextdoor, you could get a day pass to visit. You might even run into Eco! :jestercolor:

PS. If you do run into Eco, don't let him hoodwink you into believing that semen is a proven antidote to jellyfish stings. :rolling: :rolling:

Babyuv3, I've been reading a bunch of reviews of Beach Club Condos if you are looking for a non AI for under $50 a night check it out. Also check out skyauction.com since they have some good deals in Negril as well. If you are into the Hedo thing skyauction lists them as well but watch out for the extra charges.

Oh by the way, Wahoo told me to watch out for you at HedoII and to make sure that you don't trick me into thinking that semen is a jellyfish sting! :rolling:

Lucky, that castle sounds appealing. I've seen a few good trip reports about it. Say, have you ever stayed at Banana Shout (across the street from Rick's Cafe, I believe), or know anything about it? From what I've read about it, it sounds idylic, and I'm thinking real seriously about staying there on my next trip.

We looked at a room at Point Village. They are individualled owned so how nice and clean it is depends on how the owner keeps it. The grounds were nice enough, although it is at the far end of the beach, but the room, well, we didn't stay in it. I think you can do better.

Hi Babyuv,

I've stayed at every one of the Superclubs so I know what you're used to... Point Village is a nice place but You likely will find it quite a step down and I think You can do better for similar or just a little more money.

In fact, I don't know if you know anything about Breezes Trelawny (used to be Starfish) it's a moderately priced Superclubs property with an AWESOME beach... Typically it prices right about the same level as PV. Any specific questions, just ask.

Blessings and respect.

No problem Babyuv! I think there might be some photos of Starfish on my website, if not I have some up on webshots for sure...

Tinks, it actually only officially changes on November 1st... Basically Superclubs is 'streamlining' it's resorts, they're changing the two Grand Lidos to Breezes Grand Negril and Breezes Rio Bueno and Starfish to Breezes Trelawny. There will be no more surcharges for the restaurants at Starfish...

Blessings and respect

I have been there (point village) with family in Feb 2008. We extremely adore this resort. The staff goes out of their way to not only make your stay comforting, and full of fun, but also acquire to make out each person independently on a personal level. The food was stunning; breakfast, lunch, and dinner had an assortment of delicious items, and seldom had the same food as the day before.

Best Regards,
