Poison Ivy

Postby ECO » Tue Jun 28, 2011 9:18 am

I've been on a 5 year lucky streak without getting poison ivy.....until yesterday. I was starting to think I was immune to it but now I rule it out as luck. Like always I'll have to suck it up for a few days until it shows enough to call my doctor for a visit. Sucks since I always seem to get it on my family jewel sack first......and I don't expose them to poison ivy nor do I play with poison ivy and rub them.

Be careful in the woods!

That does suck, Eco, but I tried to offer you the benefit of my experience back in the Gus Burger thread where I revealed my secret proven homeopathic cure to poison ivy and you didn't listen, so don't come to me looking for sympathy. To tell the truth, I had a close call myself a couple of weeks ago on one of my return trips from central Va. I had time to kill, so I stopped off at one of my old arrowhead-hunting sites. Was wearing shorts and no socks, wielding my machete, and had to wade thru thick brush choked with poison ivy to get to my hot spot (honestly, I was more worried about copperheads than I was about poison ivy). I just knew I'd be scratching myself raw later, but amazingly nothing happened. I was so hammered that night I wouldn't have noticed anyway.

Jimsonweed also was in full bloom everywhere I looked, while I was trying to avoid poison ivy and copperheads. Parts of the plant are reputed to be hallucinogenic, but I've never (yet) been desperate enough to experiment with hallucinogens known to induce insanity, coma, and even death.

I had a five-year lucky streak once, but then I got engaged, and then married...end of lucky streak.

Gus Burger thread
I don't remember that thread.

Called my doc today for a script for the pills and he took the day off. His nurse lady is going to see if she can find him and have him call in a script.

Going to test to see if that Bizzy powder will work....

Eco, are you sure it's poison ivy and not something you picked up from the jacuzzi at Hedo II? Sometimes those things can lie dormant for years before they kick in and the symptoms appear. Even now I live in dread wondering if I might've picked up the Black Syph in Tijuana in 1972 and the spirochetes have been burrowing holes in my brain all these years till it now resembles Swiss cheese.

Come to find out it's a STD I picked up at a trucker stop in southern VA. I knew when I was riding her bareback and she kept yelling out "ride me harder Wahoo" I was in trouble! My doc says it was something that you picked up over in Nam....

Actually good news, I got a script for Prednisone and after taking the first dose (4 pills) the itching is down 99% and that weird poison ivy feeling is almost gone. Having learned my lesson about trying to save the pills in the past....I'll continue the full cycle and be cured in a week or so.

On a side note, I did get something like poison ivy in JA this past reach but it sort of went away after a week.
