Air Conditioning at hotels in Jamaica

Postby Dancing Susan » Sat Sep 05, 2009 2:09 pm

I see that some hotels in Jamaica have air conditioning while others charge more for it. I know Jamaica is hot, do people really stay in hotels without air conditioning? Does it get cold at night time or something, maybe a breeze at night?

Another question, if the cheaper garden view rooms are not facing toward the ocean do they still get the breeze from the ocean? If air conditioning is not really needed I would love to save $50 to $100 a week on my room.

Thanks,

Susan

I have never stayed in a hotel in Jamaica so can't answer this one.

The villa I stayed in had air conditioning. I would say it is needed.

I've spent nights up in the hills and on the beach and I think I had a sheet over me every night. I remember a couple nights on the beach where I was actually cold with only a sheet. Then again the AC felt great in Ochi this spring!

You have been to Jamaica more times than me but I can tell you that I almost froze my ass off on the beach! I remember getting up and closing the metal shutters and using bath towels to keep warm...............it must of been in the 70's those nights! :jestercolor:

I live in Central Florida and would DIE without a/c; however, I've stayed in JA without a/c twice -- and both times (once on the beach and once on the hills), it was perfectly fine!
