Was starting to get grumpier than usual because I hadn't gotten my federal tax return yet (got the state refund 2 weeks ago), but it was in tonite's mail--along with a nice surprise: the refund check is $420 more than the amount I calculated on my return! A slip accompanied the check saying I'd get an explanation of the error(s) I'd made in the next few days. Don't know where I screwed up 'cause I double-checked my math with the calculator. I just wish I'd screwed up even more so I could be looking at spring break in Negril!

You are lucky! Once my math was off by something silly like $1.00 and it ended up cost me $$ with their silly fees. Another time I ended up in the red with them for $$,$$$ and it cost months to get caught up.....their fees, fines and penalties redefine a MF.

Skip spring break, it's dead now that Mexico has cheaper rates. Take your $420 and book on 4/20.....420 on 4/20.....don't ask GG what 420 means, she had to ask me :-)

The "off season" rates go down after 4/15.

If you are on a REALLY tight budget I found a place up in the Blue Mountains for $3.00 a night (camping).....but you need a 4 wheel drive truck to get up there. The local supermarket is in Kingston.....a $90.00 drive.....

I'm not a big fan of the IRS, myself. When I was married, we of course always filed as "married, filing jointly" and always got a modest income tax return check each year for overpayment on our income tax withholding. When we divorced, my filing status of course changed, so I went to HR Block to prepare my tax return for that year so I'd be assured it would be done properly. With my new "single" filing status, I was shocked when HR Block informed me I owed the IRS for underpayment of taxes for that year, so I paid the amount owed. I was doubly shocked, however, when I received a notice from the IRS informing me I had been assessed a penalty fee! I immediately had my employer increase my amount of income tax withholding, which the next year resulted in me receiving a hefty tax return (which I've continued to receive each year since then). So I have more income tax withheld from my pay thruout the year, but it's nice getting a fat tax return check each year.

I now officially have enough fire wood neatly stacked up to last me for the next 2 winters. I find it a real comfort having lots of fire wood – the hydro line that runs under the water from Vancouver to Vancouver Island is about 70 years old so it could snap any time but at least I will be warm and eating hot food. Cheers!

Got a case of Red Stripe tonite to wash the awful taste out of my mouth from the case of Pabst Blue Ribbon I bought over in the Shenadoah Valley two weekends ago (hey, it was cheap).

I'd get a case of that Dutch beer, Oranjeboom, and offer to split it with GhettoGurl, but I'm afraid she'd drink me under the table, then take advantage of me while I'm passed out. :yipes:

I forced my dog who is scared of the water to go kayaking with me today. This afternoon he got in the kayak on his own, I think he likes the ride.

I wonder if my goats are interested in a ride :scratchheadblue:

 Do you feel like you can walk on air?

BTW, it seemed like just a short time ago that you had your operation, are you losing weight at the expected rate? How much do you plan to lose? <--hopefully that's not a private question.

Its coming off slower than i would like, but apparently its good.

I plan to get to a size 10/12 and no it is not a private question. I feel great and its dropping about 2 lbs a day right now.
