Bus rides in Jamaica

Postby Dancing Susan » Fri Sep 11, 2009 5:55 pm

Do they have buses in Jamaica that go from one end of the island to the other or all around the island? I would like to find something cheap like a Greyhound bus so I can see the island for under $50. It really does not have to be a tour bus, just a nice long ride.

Thanks,

Susan

Actually, I'd be interested in am island-wide tour like that myself...with regular stops, of course, to refill my hip flask with rum.

I was just reading today about how some of the buses (assuming route buses) use wooden planks in the isles so more people can sit down..........not sure if this is BS or the truth but not my idea of traveling across the country.

Also in the news Jamaica is spending billions on new buses but they are all for Kingston.

As far as I am aware Greyhound buses are an American Organisation that operate only from the US

$1200 from Ochi to Mobay on one of those nice buses sounds like a deal to me!

Ok, off topic but is this one true: max 5 customers in a route taxi? Do people sit on each others lap?

it depends...most main route taxis adhere to the rules due to police presence, hills taxis cram more in...during busy morning and evening...3 in the front 4-5 in the back..and if its a wagon type car...more in the back usually schoolers

:yipes: :yipes: As a guy I sure the heck don't want to sit in a guys lap and I don't want one to sit in mine! I guess if it comes down to walking or sucking up pride then my opinion could change.

 I can sleep easy tonight knowing that men are not forced to bounce up and down on each others laps on those bumpy roads.

when I got the bus from half way tree - all the seats had a plank and it was mainly the schoolchildren - health and safety would have a field day - especially since the bus had a notice saying only allowing "16 people".

I have received the service of http://www.knutsfordexpress.com/ two years ago. That was my first and last experience. I waited for long time at Bus stop and after long time a bus came and that was packed. OMG! :-( :???: It was very stressful trip. I think taxi is the best way to travel around, without doubt it is little expensive but stress-free. Thank God.

Best Regards,
