When royalty meets royalty

Postby Wahoo » Mon Aug 09, 2010 7:05 am

So U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama and daughter Sasha had lunch with Spain's king and queen on Sunday at the royal family's holiday retreat on the resort island of Mallorca in the Mediterranean.

Glad to know they didn't get the Bibi Netanyahu treatment.

Let's review the facts: It's the Prez's birthday, but Michelle kicks it Euro-style, leaving Barry to blow out his own birthday candles. Seems clear to me that they had a big fight and she's pissed! Her lavish trip to Spain was a big "screw you" to Barry. And a big "screw you" to the American taxpayers and the masses on food stamps, too.

PS. According to Leno, Michelle is publishing a new travel book: "Spain on $75,000 a Day."

Personally speaking, if I were Michelle, and Barry and I had a big fight and I was pissed and I wanted to really stick it to him, I would've booked a reservation for one at Hedo II. :jestercolor:

My policy about not speaking about sitting Presidents forbids me in some areas but I have to say I just spit all over my keyboard :rolling: :rolling: about "Spain on $75,000 a day".

Assuming we brought a large warship to hold the SS cars and support craft (helos) it was way over that figure. If not, what does it cost to fly a couple of C130's over there with a 100+ person security force?

With that said, I would be on a jet every single day if I was in her shoes!

The current word in the media is "Optics." All over the news I hear "The optics are bad." Many see nothing wrong with spending a fortune the country doesn't have on a lavish trip to Spain with 40 of her closest friends. It's just that the "optics" are bad. Does anyone in the media or political world have a mind of his or her own any more? One person spouts "optics," and before 24 hours can pass everyone is running to microphones talking about the "optics of the trip to Spain." I guess it's easier than thinking for yourself.

Curious about the optic thing – is it like a how you look to the media or how the medea makes you look sort of thing ?
Cheers!
