The blue buckets of coconut milk get loaded in a van and they are sold. If you really want to see a few of them in a van I can post a picture

BTW, I still have to post my pictures of how they get the coconuts out of the trees...........maybe those pictures should go before the ones of them extracting the milk?

Looks like I'll have to ask a few more questions when I return! I have to remember to bring a straw since I end up spilling the milk all over me drinking it out of the shell.

Maybe I'll buy one of those big blue buckets of coconut milk, pour out one third of the coconut milk, and top off the bucket with white overproof rum and keep it in my hotel room. Then I'll never have to leave my hotel room.

That would make a strong drink! I'm going to try maybe a shot of overproof in a coconut and work up from there.

LOL.. You're brave.

I leave that kinda "developed over time" skill to the locals! Pass me the straw!

LMAO @ to the locals! I'm sure you had your share of coconut milk without a straw.

Wonder why Coco Loco (coconut milk + rum, in the coconut) is so popular in Punta Cana (Dom. Rep.) but not in Jamaica, since Hispaneola and Jamaica are neighbors? Oh well, Jamaica has its rum punch, so I'm not complaining.

I think it's variously called both Coconut Milk or Coconut Water, but you're right, there is a difference. I, personally, always call it Coconut Water--'cause, well, it looks like water. I think most non-islanders, seeing a coconut opened for the first time, are probably expecting Coconut Water to look like milk and are surprised to see it's a clear liquid, like water.

All I know is that I drink the milk so I can eat the coconut jelly and then chew on a little of the white stuff before I discard the rest of the coconut. On the farm where I took the pictures, they only harvest the milk since the rest of the coconut has very little value. They end up throwing the coconut shells next to the trees so they can be used as fertilizer--organic fertilizer is cool in my book!
