Remembrance Day

Postby Nanoose » Mon Nov 09, 2009 12:41 pm

Remembrance day is this Wednesday the two people that I will be remembering
the most is Ted and Arnie. Ted was a Canadian Merchant Marian during World war 2.
It was a dangerous duty because a lot of times they were in enemy patrolled waters
un-escorted, in un-armored vessels and their only artillery was a couple of World war 1 British 303 riffles. Ted once half jokingly said to me – do you know why they called it a poop deck? I said no and he said – because if you were standing on it and you seen a periscope you pooped.
Arnie was a Canadian bush pilot during the first half of WW2 during the 2nd half he started doing contract cargo flying for the US Government. He got paid by the pound so he would fill his plane up so much it couldn’t get off the ground so he would go full speed down the runway and then start manually cranking up the landing gear. Arnie was just in it for the money but his greed did get a lot of needed supplies to the front line.
Cheers!
What's pushing us apart isn't loneliness what's holding us together isn't love. Listen to the man who's been touched all his life yes he's the one they call the fool. Where is that savoir of the sidewalk life and the road that takes us to the crusades? We still got along way to go yes we still got a along way to go.
