Romantic Birthday dinner

Postby Will-Sandy » Sat Aug 13, 2011 10:17 am

Looking for a nice romantic restaurant in Negril for Sandys birthday, nothing overly expensive and classy, something like Champers in Barbados with a nice view

Check out the Xtabi on the cliffs in Negril. The food is good, the drinks are great and the ocean/sunset views are priceless. The place is sort of casual so you can dress in a tee shirt.

Also, even if you don't eat there be sure to stop by for a drink during the day and enjoy swimming and exploring their caves for free.

If you are going to Negril, there will be no shortage of places you can dine. I would recommend that you select a location situated at the cliffs of West End Negril. The views are spectacular and breath taking and the sunset is beautiful. One restaurant to consider would be the "Rockhouse". The sunset there is amazing. It is a Jamaican restaurant and the food is definitely tasty. I hope that helps.

The Rockhouse was an excellent suggestion! While I have never had a meal there I have yet to hear a single negative comment about the place.

Also check out Sips and Bites (cliff area about a half of a mile past the Xtabi toward the lighthouse) for local style inexpensive meals.....not a fancy place but great for anyone on a budget that likes great food. 3 Dives (next door to Xtabi) has great jerk food, sunsets, bonfires and good prices but service times can run 30-60 minutes +.

****Be sure to have a meal or at least a patty from Miss Sonia on the beach road by the Grand Pineapple Resort (ask any local and they will direct you). Miss Sonia has a giant heart and sharing time with her will be something you remember....plus her food is excellent! Miss norma (sort of behind Miss Sonia) can also cook up some great meals if you give her a little notice. Up the street a few doors you can also find great food at Jah B's as well as cheap lodging. I could go on and on......all the food in Negril and Jamaica as a whole is excellent!

Almost forgot....almost everything in Jamaica is made from scratch and that takes time so getting your food takes a while. Be happy if you see food in 30 minutes, if you expect fast fast service like in the US/CA/UK you will be upset.

Also, I forgot to mention the fine food and drinks at "The Canoe" which is located at the start of the cliffs. Wahoo (a member here) is the only person in the world who got injured swimming there but since he picked up the tab for our forum party there I refrained from posting pictures of his bloody leg.
