Rules about Men Sharing a Hotel Room in Jamaica

Postby ECO » Wed Mar 11, 2009 6:29 pm

On my last trip to Jamaica my friend and I got a couple hotel rooms down at the beach my last night. When we were checking in the lady at the desk stated that two men can not stay in the same room. I thought this was a little odd but my friend confirmed that they will not even let him and his brother share a room. It's no secret that Jamaica doesn't welcome gays but if two cheap non gays want to share a room to cut down on expenses it's still a no no?

So, a few questions:

Do most of the hotels on the island forbid two men from sharing a room?

How about two women, can they share a room?

Is some of the motivation behind the one man one room rule to rent twice as many rooms?

It's sort of silly since they have more money to spend on vacations then straight people. IMHO who cares what they do behind closed doors at the end of the day they will provide the island with money.

No she caught us french kissing and starting freaking out..............lol, we have known each other for 25 years and neither one of us have a gay bone. Since both of our rooms ended up having only one bed I am glad that she would not rent us one room because one of us would of slept on the floor before we slept in the same bed.

I hear they have some serious gay clubs in JA.
I know they have a few "gay friendly" hotels but they keep it on the down low.

Eco, I couldn't begin to count the times I've shared accommodations, and even the same bed, with buddies of mine. Nothing sexual or untoward about, it's simply a matter of economics and convenience. Hell, even on the night before my wedding, my father and my best man at my wedding (my lifelong best friend) and I shared a two-bed hotel room, with my buddy and I taking one bed so my old man could have the other all to himself. So what's the problem.

PS. Don't think this means I'm sharing my king bed with anybody if you Ochi people decide to spend the night in Negril.

I can understand your approach since it's based on saving money. Heck even at $50 per night, it's a saving of $350 a week for two people using one room instead of two. I just can't sleep with another dude....some sort of phobia about waking up thinking it's a chick in bed with me. Sort of weird since I can go to gay bars and have a great time (watching the women kiss) but I can't share a bed with a man.

In reference to Negril, we are planning on running a train on you! Remember, any port in a storm!
