Swine flue (H1N1 virus)

Postby Nanoose » Sat Oct 03, 2009 11:17 pm

Today I was talking to my bus stop buddy and he hold me that the entire staff of the
PQ News has or has had the Swine flue recently. Sad news because I know some of those people but when he told me that scientists have found out that any body that had child hood vaccinations before 1957 are immune to swine flue I was happy again
(now I know I don’t have to get a swine flue shot) .
We also talked about why the Swine flue is one of the few viruses that has been able to mutate and change from a virus that can only effected animals or birds – to a virus that can effect humans. We also talked about why they recently started calling the Swine flue the H1N1 virus (its been around since the 50s – so why the sudden name change?)
We both figure it’s a conspiracy or they don’t want people to panic.
Cheers and happy week end!

I'm still up in the air about getting the vaccine, at least I have really good life insurance if I get it and die.

Well I heard that people that were vaccinated last year are more likely to catch
it this year.
So you can’t win but the doctors make a bit of money giving out a different flue
shot ever winter. I figure if a person has a healthy immune system their better
off without getting a flue shot ever winter.

Just curious does the United States still refere to it as the Swine flur or the H1N1 virus?

Cheers!

This is the first I have heard that those who recieved their childhood vacconations prior to 1957 are immune to swine flu. I tried to find this info, I would appreciate a link if anyone else has heard this. This would essentially mean people in developed countries who are 60 years or older.
I will get the vaccine since I spend quite a bit of time on airplanes.
It is still called Swine Flu in the US.

I am also curious about that 1957 thing too – maybe they should just start giving out the type of shots that they gave out before 1957. Cheers!

I just heard part of some info on the radio about swine flue.
It said they have been doing a world wide research on the flue for years and some of the information they gathered was seriously flawed. (probably why the shots didn’t work last year)

A BC scientist just discover the flawed info and pointed it out .
Maybe it has something to do with that 1957 thing so maybe if Canada is included in your search about that 1957 thing it might help.

Cheers!

All the dreadful things we ingested as children should make us immune to anything! My job offered the vaccine for free. I declined after taking a flu shot and becoming as sick as I ever been :-o . I'll take my chances. :scratchheadblue:

I figure it’s the other way around – all the dreadful things we put in our bodies and all the dreadful things in the air and water (as well as an easy life – like it gets a little cold so people crank up the heat) - has wreaked our immune systems.

I have also heard about people getting sick after flue shoots

This is a little off topic but - about a month ago an Aboriginal Reservation in BC was hit hard by swine flu. They asked the Canadian Government for the shoots but the Government sent them 500 body bags instead.
The Government explained it with a bunch of gobally goop but I figure it was pretty ignorant.

Cheers!

I was just listening to a radio station and they said that foods rich in omega acids help
the respiratory system and mushrooms help build white blood cells so you have a better chance of not getting the swine flew is you eat these foods.
(there are other foods besides mushrooms that build white blood cells – I just forget what they are) Cheers!

Absolutely shocking. :yipes:

Well I have another real shocking example of something ignorant my Government did in the past but it’s way off this topic so I will add it in the Other Country Forums - ASP.
Cheers!
