Va Tech eating Boston College for lunch

Postby Wahoo » Sat Oct 10, 2009 1:45 pm

Watching fifth-ranked Virginia Tech clean Boston College's clock at their match-up in Blacksburg, with the score 34-0 at the half. No, I'm not in Blacksburg--which, incidentally, is just next door to Christiansburg...I could've made the trip and killed two birds with one stone, taking in the game and and visiting my GFs at the one-star motel and Dennys in Christiansburg, but I've made enough round-trip drives to southwest Va recently to last a while. The announcer (probably a Boston College grad) keeps saying the Eagles are going to rally in the second half and give Tech a wake-up call. We'll see.

Although Va Tech trounced Boston College 48-12 in Blacksburg yesterday and sent the Eagles home with their tailfeathers between their legs, it's reported that the Va Tech football team took up a collection and presented Boston College's sidelined player Mark Herlich (http://www.friedpost.com/sport/mark-her ... r-789.html), striken with Ewing's sarcoma and requiring surgery to implant a metal rod in his leg, a check to the tune of $24,000 to defray the costs of his treatment. Even though I've never been a huge fan of Virginia Tech football, that selfless act of generosity makes them a class act in my book.
