Tell us about a time you decided to trust someone:

Once I was tending some of my ganja plants in the bush and heard a strange noise so I crouched down and was real quite for a few minutes.
Then I peeked out and seen this guy 30 feet away peeking out at me and when it became obvious that we both knew we were there we stood up.
He was a pretty big boy so the first thing that came to mind was cop but then I noticed he looked a lot like Joey Ramon and he was holding a shovel so psycho killer came to mind. When he noticed that I was looking at the shovel he shouted out no it’s OK I am just loosening the soil around my pot plants so I gave him the universal gesture to shhhhhhhhhh up.
Eventually he showed me his and I showed him mine (mine was bigger) and that’s were the trust began because I could see he needed some growing help – he was about to fertilize his ganja plants with fish fertilizer which is OK for city ganja plants but in the bush a bear is going to smell it and dig up the plants looking for fish.
He had also been getting glacier water from the creek which is great for city or bush ganja plants but the creak was a ¼ of a mile away and there was a pond 50 feet away.
We had a good laugh about that and I decided I didn’t have to worry about this guy ripping off my plants so I decided not to move them. Cheers!

If he looked like Joey Ramone, you're lucky he wasn't a serial killer returning to his favorite drop site and the shovel wasn't for digging shallow graves! :yipes:

I once gave a Jamaican $3000J (about 32us) and told him to pay for all of the drinks, food and transport for the night. We ate and drank like kings (local prices away from tourist area) BUT when it came to the ride home we didn't have any money. I though the taxi driver was going to murda us but he drove off into the sunrise without blood on his hands.

I once trusted a family member when he saw my hiding place in my truck for my money. Somehow the next morning he was gone and the almost $2000us in cash was gone from my diaper hiding spot.

I'm not that big on trust now.........

When I was a teenager, a time-honored way for underage party animals to get booze was to drive down to the local ABC store (then, as now, you had to buy the hard stuff from state-licensed alcohol beverage control stores in Va) and commission one of the wine-nos who loitered around the ABC store to go in and get your booze in exchange for allowing the wine-no to keep the change--usually enough for him to buy himself a 99-cent bottle of Thunderbird or Wild Rose wine.

One time a couple of pals of mine & I made a booze run, with orders for booze from our buddies. We approached a young guy loitering in the vicinity of the ABC store who was willing to make the booze run for us, gave him our list of brands and the cash, and into the ABC store he went. He shortly emerged from the store toting a bulging bag, but instead of heading toward us waiting nearby, he took off running in the opposite direction! My buddies and I gave chase, but he was fast and we quickly lost him...along with all our money and/or bottles of booze.

We learned a hard lesson that day: On future booze runs, always pick an old wine-no to make the ABC store run...preferably one with a gimpy leg or on crutches who can't run off with all our money or booze!

Trusting some one with my ganja plants (post above) was one thing but trusting some one
to take good care of a dog I gave them was a completely different story.
Once a woman answered my free pup to a good home add and when I found out she was homeless and lived in a van in the bush I told her she couldn’t have the pup. Then she blurted out that she was trying to beat a cocaine habit and she had been wishing for a friend/dog that would help her and keep away the dogs that came around at night with a bag of coke with strings attached - and if I gave her the dog she would call it Wish.
There was something in that little blurt out that made me think that the dog I was giving away was capable of doing all that and if I didn’t give her the dog I would become part of the problem and not part of the solution so I gave her the dog. In the past 10 years I have seen her many times taking care of her new window washing business she not only kept care of the dog I gave her she also kept care of one of its pups and found a good home for the rest of them.
This is kind of weird but for years I would watch the improvements in her life but I I still would worry a bit that she might get back into coke – I seen her today in the Pizza hut and she is really starting to pack on the pounds - (good sign that people aren’t into drugs). Cheers!
