The Vampire Diaries

Ordinarily, I think vampire movies and TV shows suck (pardon the pun), but I was channel surfing and came across this new TV show The Vampire Diaries, and I can't stop watching. Since when (with the exception of Vampira, the campy, voluptuous late fifties horror show hostess) did vampires become so hot? I'm strangely terrified and sexually excited at the same time. I'm gonna sleep with a Magnum and a wooden spike under my pillow tonite!
