Wow, I thought the old system was from the 1800's, looking at the coin I see 1985 the year I was born......the third time.

That's not really actual size...I was just effin with you. But they wuz heavy coins, I didn't lie about that. 1985 was a good year. Not as good as 1975, maybe, but pretty darn good. 1995, on the other hand, was my worst nightmare. I've been trying to forget 1995 ever since, but there never seems to be enough alcohol to blot out those memories.

"Ensure" means make certain. "Insure" means guarantee against loss. Shouldn't the abbreviation, therefore, be TEPS (To Ensure Prompt Service)? :scratchheadblue:

On a side note, I'm going to start to tell people I'm from China where it's rude to tip people. :rolling:

Found that 26 billion in tips in 2003 interesting – wonder what percent was claimed – what percent was actually deserved (like for good polite service).
I have seen people get some pretty poor service and still leave a generous tip. I’m going to check out what the estimated tips were in 2010 in the US and get the figures for the 2 years in Canada. I bet in both Countries the numbers will be way down.
Also curious how the workers in Jamaica are tipped – like do people figure it’s all part of the package and don’t tip – and do the Jamaicans work hard for their tips and appreciate them. Cheers!
What's pushing us apart isn't loneliness what's holding us together isn't love. Listen to the man who's been touched all his life yes he's the one they call the fool. Where is that savoir of the sidewalk life and the road that takes us to the crusades? We still got along way to go yes we still got a along way to go.

20%.......that's about way too many numbers in front of the zero for me.

Nanoose, some off the resorts wrap it up in the package and don't allow tips. At other places you can get shitty service without tipping.... A good share of the island (local areas) are not use to tipping, you pay for a good or service and the deal is done. In some areas tipping just shows that you don't care about your money and just give it away for no reason.....hence you are a sucker and everyone will fuc with you. Like that Kenny Rodgers song, "you have to know when to hold them....".

IMHO, a tip is for something extra. Give my toothless grandmother CPR and you get a tip, massage me while I eat and you get a tip....

As a matter of principle I always tip between 10% - 20% regardless of where I go. As a local of Jamaica, I know this practice is not the norm. A large percentage of local Jamaican's do not tip for anything. I personally believe this is a practice that needs to change. However, resort workers are used to receiving healthy tips from visitors and this contributes significantly to their livelihoods - enables them to send kids to school, pay light bills etc]. It has already been said, but worth repeating - at the All-inclusive resorts keep in mind that many have policies that tipping is not permitted.
