Sunday is my day of rest which includes taking a break from my vices.
Because I am a glutton for punishment I sometimes think of this song. Cheers!

What's pushing us apart isn't loneliness what's holding us together isn't love. Listen to the man who's been touched all his life yes he's the one they call the fool. Where is that savoir of the sidewalk life and the road that takes us to the crusades? We still got along way to go yes we still got a along way to go.

Today I found a photo of my youngest son when he was an apprentice rodeo clown.
(notice how he can take down a bull and smoke a doobie at the same time - not many rodeo clowns are capable of that so the little woman and I are pretty proud of him

)
Anyway it reminded me of this song. Cheers!

Don McLean looks a little like Chevy Chase. (I didn't mean that as an insult to Don McLean...)

American Pie was the first song I heard while sipping the first beer I'd had in 4 months at a bar in North Carolina while waiting for my bus ride home on my first leave after finishing boot camp and infantry training in November 1970. Believe me, you get really blotto on just one beer when you haven't had one for 4 months!

Lol, looking at the picture on that YouTube video he does look just like Chevy Chase! My favorite version of the sound is when country singer Garth Brooks dug Don McLean's ass up out of the grave and had him sing it live at Garth's show in Central Park NY. Actually the two of them sang the song and IMO it got some of the dust off of Don Mclean and made younger generation aware that he is still alive.

Please note – unless they are talking about a donkey - this song contains a word of profanity. Cheers and merry Christmas!

Even though it’s a rainy day – I have to do a bunch of outside chores today so I will be thinking of the following song. While I was downloading it I checked out the related video section and found the same group doing a Bangles song so I thought I would include it. Cheers and merry Christmas!

In an earlier post I mentioned the "San Francisco sound" of the late sixties. This song embodied it.

Any JABsters old enough to remember Screamin' Jay Hawkins. In the mid-sixties when I was in my middle teens, I used to stay awake late at night, lying in the dark, listening to "I Put A Spell On You" on Boston's WBZ station, until it was banned from the airwaves due to it's suggestion of cannibalism. Screamin' Jay Hawkins lived somewhere in Maryland, I believe, till he died a few years ago.

Credence Clearwater Revival did a respectable remake of the song on one of theor albums.

Obviously, my youtube video embedding skills suck today, but you must enter the URL for the Screamin' Jay Hawkins song and listen to it, and read the hilarious comments that've been posted, 'cause if you don't, Wahoo will put a spell on you! :jestercolor:

My last music selection today (I promise)--video of elder son's band Descent to Daylight at Miller's Tavern earlier this month. What the video doesn't show is the crowd surrounding the stage--the place was packed! That's Wahoo's lad on guitar (with the high n' tight haircut and cool red T-shirt he picked up in the Philippines).

An object will make a close flyby of Earth today (January 13th 2010) coming within only 128,000 km (about 80,000 miles), or at a distance about three times less than the moon’s orbit. The object, named 2010 AL30, is about 10-15 meters long, and asteroid watchers say there is no chance it will hit the planet. But is it an asteroid or perhaps a piece of space junk, like a spent rocket booster? Here is a video of Devo’s song Space Junk. Cheers!

Take him out of the video, turn off the sound, focus the cameras and it's a good video.

That was actually painful listening to that.
