Too bad Jamaica doesn’t handle the Internet help centres

Postby Nanoose » Wed Jun 01, 2011 9:52 pm

When ever I call a help centre I hope a Jamaican answers because I think it would more enjoyable and cooler then the people I usually get plus I don’t think there would be such a big communication problem.
It would probably be a huge set up expense for Jamaica to capture the Internet help call centres market but they would have my support. Cheers!

They have them in Montego Bay and I would assume other places on the island as well. Since they already speak English and work for small money it beats doing the India route for smart companies.

Well I should be glad to hear that and just leave it alone but I’m thinking that the reason the Jamaicans are working for little money is because the center is owned by a foreign investor who probably looks at his Jamaican employees the same way as the employees in India – their just some poor bugger who will work cheap.
There is a TV show called Out Source its about an American owned call center based in India there is an East Indian assistance manager who calls his employees dogs.
I figure if a guy like him gets transferred to Jamaica and he calls some one a dog it would be a different reaction and he better think fast and say – no I said log do you want to go smoke a log.

Any way there is a lot of money and jobs in help centers and phone product ordering too bad 100% Jamaica owed companies or co–ops aren’t trying to take over the market. Cheers!

Nanoose, Google a movie called "outsourced", it will open your eyes to the whole industry. While it's based in India, it really takes a good look at how money places our needs where the cost is the less.

I still can’t see how outsourcing can be good for a Country (that’s doing the outsourcing) seems like it would only be good for a handful of people who already have a gazillion dollars. Originally I forgot about the low wages part now I’m wondering if I should of titled this thread – Good thing Jamaica doesn’t handle the call centers. Cheers and happy week end!
