Can't think of any right now. But the Afghan girl is a world famous picture.I remember National Geographic went on a man hunt looking for her, if I see her picture anywhere I can tell she was the girl on the cover of National Geographic.

The images that came to my immediately were the student in front of tank in tianaman square, the first man on the moon.

Although there are some well-known photos here, I disagree that they are the "top world famous". They didn't even include Migrant Mother by Dorothea Lange or one of the many iconic photos by Annis Leibovitz.
The attached photo will always haunt me and think it should have been included.
