I remember my first trip to Jamaica and flying over Cuba. I was terrified, expecting at any moment for our US-based jet to be shot down for encroaching into Cuban airspace. :yipes: I just assumed that we'd have to fly around the island.

Now, one of the thrills, for me, of those trips to Jamaica is flying over Cuba, sometimes at fairly low altitude so you can get a good view of the countryside and surrounding islands.

Thailand-- because I think that is where Thai sticks come from??

No other ones are on my list as of now.

France= never

ECO, what do you have against France? :lol:

They hate Americans and they look goofy. :grin:

I would add that they are cowards, spineless and a few other things but then I would have to prove those statements so I'll refrain............

Eco, you're 100% right, of course, but damned those french fries taste so good...especially with that sweet spicy Jamaican catsup.

PS. I had Thai stick once...savory, yet didn't pack the wallop of the high-grade Columbian I was into at the time. :thumbup:

Ok........tell me one thing the French actually invented without cutting up another invention........french style green beans??? XXXX=no!, French fries xxx=no! Now we have a nation of fat people and it's all because of the french fries........(some kidding in that statement).

Thai stick..........I once had the chance to marry a Thai Chick.......but she was a slave driver and treated her family like slaves.......I could not see myself answering orders from her and slaving away in the kitchen at he Thai restaurant. Great body, has her slaves cook great food, plenty of $$$$$ but something was missing.........

I'd like to bump Egypt to the top of my "bucket list"--even though Egypt (like Palm Springs, Calif) seems to be a popular vacation spot for vacationing gay couples, and I don't want to spend my vacation watching guys holding hands and kissing. I've seen (and been inside) the pyramids of Chichen Itza in the Yucatan of Mexico, but I'd really like to see the pyramids of Egypt before I check out.

Bring bribe money if you want to explore the parts of the pyramids that are closed to the touring public. A friend of mine went and bribed someone to let him climb to the top of a closed one......then he had to climb back down which he claims was scary.

OK, I'll hop on the Netherlands bandwagon. I'd love to feast my eyes on scenes that inspired the Dutch master artists like Van Eyck and Vermeer. And Flanders Fields (I know, that's Belgium) where poppies grow, between the crosses, row on row..

France ain't on my list either because a hotel minibar Coke in Paris costs $12! Un-freaking-believable! New York's not far behind (see link below).

And I don't even drink Coke, but it's the principle.

GG, I'm pretty much offended you didn't mention Virginia. If you come visit me, I'll show you why they say "Virginia Is For Lovers." ;-)
