What Does Negril Offer

Postby ECO » Mon Aug 17, 2009 6:45 pm

What does Negril offer as far as places to see and things to do? I've been to countless Jamaican tour websites and almost all of the tours are all over the island without anything actually in Negril.

So far I've only found shopping that does not interest me outside of the craft fair.....mental note to see if Ted is going to be there.

Rick's Cafe........not my type of place at all. I'm sure I'll end up there at some point to see the divers for a few minutes.

The lighthouse, I'm sure I'll be there whenever to tourists leave to get some photos.

Okay, so what else is there to do during the day other than lay on the beach, shop or take a tour bus to other places on the island? I'm perfectly content just hanging out but I don't want to miss anything good.

I've got a little over 2 days to fill with stuff to do or I'll end up sitting around smoking ganja and watching the ocean all day. At some point I'll start a thread about what to do over there in the evenings, I would love to see some good shows/dances!

OK, I'll make another plug for Pirates Cave. And even if it leaves you underwhelmed, you can still savor a cold Red Stripe, watch the divers, and then move on. But with the thatched roof villas of Rock House right next door, I promise you you'll leave with some stunning photographs.

One of the two pics I took at Pirates Cave. The other pic is of my kid cliff diving...I still get the willies every time I look at that pic!

Wahoo, did you stay there or is their place open to the public for swimming and finding treasure in those caves?

No, I've never stayed at Rock House, but I bet a stay there would be sweet. As far as I know, it's a private resort, so I doubt it's open to the public. Won't cost you anything, though, to ask to swim there. If you find any treasure, you have to split it with me.

Eco, in another post you mentioned maybe staying at Xtabi. Well, unless I'm totally confused (which is very possible), Xtabi borders Rock House. So that could explain why they look so much alike. Personally, I can think of nothing else than either resort that comes to close to my vision of Heaven on Earth.

Lol, I've done that type of vacation more than once...........this time I want to break it up with some excitement like a mid day pole dance or something.

From what I seen of the beach front cottages at the Xtabi I love them. Having the water right in front of me without a garden view, having a room without neighbors..........priceless.

Hey Wahoo, as of now my thoughts are finding something to drift on to explore the cave and coast line from the xtabi area back to the Canoe area.....any thoughts on a cheap ride/raft?

The amenities at most all-inclusives include free kayaks and windsurfing; I don't know about the hotels in the West End, though. If course, you could always pack your own inflatable kayak.

I wouldn't mind having one of those inflatable kayaks myself. Except that I'd probably doze off and wake up to find I'd drifted 100 miles out to sea. :yipes:

Hmmm...that inflatable kayak even comes with a fag bag...I mean fanny pack...to store your valuables (ganja) and accessories (papers, lighter).

Lol, I'm thinking more along the lines of a $2.00 discount store pool floaty.

Eco, you'll never get any punani if you're seen with one of those Little Mermaid pool floats!

Ok then, what type of floats attract the punani? How about those round foam tubes that come in different colors that kids play with at the pools.
