Going to see Gary Allan at Missouri State Fair August 14th and hopefully, Montgomery Gentry at a rodeo a few hours away on August 7th, Eco!

Going to try and google it again.

Long a demi-regular in the waters of the Caribbean, Chesney chose Jamaica as the site for his upcoming clip.

"There is a real soul to that island," Chesney allows. "When you're in Jamaica, it is so real... and so alive, you know there's more to life than just what you see. When you're singing about the notion of wanting to go to heaven, it is pretty much a bit of heaven on earth, but it's also a place where you get the sense there's more to life than just what we experience here."

Certainly that reality is manifested in his guest band for the clip. Given the shoot location, Chesney and Silva reached out to Bob Marley's legendary Wailers Band to see if they'd have any interest in being a part of the video - and to their delight, the Wailers Band signed on for the video.

"I can't even begin to tell you how great it was to work with them," Chesney enthuses. "They were so generous with us in terms of their time and the stories they'd tell us. We sat up one night on the beach, and they shared the whole history of the band, the struggles they had... I got to interview them for something we may do later.

"Those guys are a huge part of history, whether people realize it or not. The music they had a hand in creating is so universal. It doesn't matter where you go, you can hear the Wailers drifting out of some club or shop or car or boat... and they are so humble for everything they've been a part of."

And the Wailers history just expanded, as they became a part of Chesney's fall Lucky Old Sun. Though they don't actually sing on the version of "Everybody Wants To Go To Heaven" that's currently on country radio, brothers Carlton and Ashton "Family Man" Barrett both sing on the CD version of the song about the timing of one's transformation.

"To have them in the studio... To hear them sing...," Chesney says. "You listen to that, and you know it's real. For me to be able to make them a part of this record... and to turn my fans onto the source of this sort of music... well, that's just one more thing that makes me really glad we're gonna be able to get this record out this year."

WTH does "middle of Jamaica" really mean?

WAILERS IN CHESNEY VIDEO

Chesney revealed the embryo of The Wailers role in the video.

"They had contacted me six months before that to ask if I would be a part of their record that's coming out next year," Chesney recalled.

"They wanted me to write a song for them and sing that song on the record. I was in a process of doing that, and then I realised this song was going to be a single for us, and I also realised that I wanted to go somewhere really funky. I wanted to be tropical about it, but I didn't want it to be beachy. I wanted it to have a very tropical feel. We decided to go there to Jamaica but I wanted to shoot it in the infrastructure. I wanted to shoot it in the middle of Jamaica and just the whole environment. And I called them and said, "Would you guys be interested in this?"

And in about two seconds, they said yes. Next thing you know, I'm in Jamaica doing this song with the Wailers in a place where they recorded a lot of really universal music and far-reaching music. And it was really cool to talk to them and to see what their perspective was on the music that they and Bob Marley recorded."

So did The Wailers realise the impact of this creative cross fertilisation of country and reggae?

"They do now," Chesney added.

"I was talking with Wailers guitarist Junior Marvin and he said he felt like Bob Marley was pretty clairvoyant in ways and he kind of knew that one day this music would touch a lot of people.

Obviously, I don't know if he could have imagined it touching the amount of people that it has because, in my opinion, it's some of the most universal music ever recorded. So this was an experience, one that I never thought I would have. And it's a unique one because I'm a kid from East Tennessee, and the music I'm recording touched them in ways because they initially wanted me to be a part of their record, and now they're on my record. And here these guys are from the middle of Jamaica. It's pretty cool to be able to share that music and to share each other's backgrounds together."
