Would you be happy or outraged to inherit $10 million?

Postby Wahoo » Wed Jun 15, 2011 8:14 am

When computer mogul Bill Gates kicks the bucket, each of his three kids will inherit $10 million, and he plans to donate most of the rest of his $56 billion fortune to charity (having already donated $28 billion to charity). If your dad was worth $56 billion and left you a paltry $10 million, would you be happy or outraged?

Personally, if my dad left me $10 million, I'd have chapped lips from kissing his @$$ out of gratitude.

Well I would be happy but my happiness would probably soon turn into rage because the dead beats would hound me 24/7. Bill Gates kids will probably be happy they lived in a home were helping charities was common and they probably seen a lot of good come out of their fathers generosity so they will be happy to see the billions go to charity. Cheers!

Yes, I would be happy if my dad left me $10 million. I would wipe his tush for the rest of his life. But at the back of my mind I would be like.....he left $56 billlion to charity, and only $10 million to his kids. Lol, it's just me, I can't help it. Outraged? Naaaaah!

Rose! Yuh nuh dead yet? (I've been told that's a common Jamaican greeting.)

I agree with you and Nanoose. With all the time I spend on the road, while I'm driving I constantly pass the time fantasizing about how I'd spend a $10 million dollar windfall, and who I'd gift lavish sums to, or pay off mortgages or buy cars for, and so on, but at the end of the day, I know my favorite massage therapist would end up driving a Bentley while I tool around in my 7-year-old base model Nissan Sentra with nearly 90,000 miles on the odometer.

I doubt his kids are out in the street giving hands jobs to pay their bills......just saying they might not really need the 10mil. OR.....maybe daddy doesn't trust them with the full aircraft carrier full of money....

Well, it's been 5 months since my pricey energy-efficient Thompson Creek windows were installed, and I still haven't seen any difference in my monthly electricity bills (hoping that I'd save enough on energy to at least partly fund another trip to Jamaica)... I wonder if Bill Gates frets over his electricity bills or saving up for his next trip to the islands...

Even so, I'm still loving my Thompson Creek windows. They really cut down on outside noise...I can hardly even hear the police car sirens or police helicopters circling over my neighborhood anymore!

I was thinking a few years ago the Government wanted Bill Gates to break up some of his companies because they said he had a monopoly. I don’t think he did but maybe if he did he wouldn’t of had 58 billion to give to charities. Cheers!

What can I say, Eco? I have gas heat and turned on the AC only a couple of weeks ago for the first time since last fall (windows were installed end of January). And I'm a creature of habit (and a frugal one at that), and my electricity usage never changes from one year to the next (with thermostat set to a constant 78 degrees when the AC is on and on auto). It's not like I'm growing ganja hydroponically in my spare bedroom and running up the electric bill (though that is a thought). ;-)

My electric company billing statements show the actual kilowatt usage (supposedly) for each month for the previous 13 months, so I'm gonna check my statements for the months since the windows installation and compare the kilowatt usage with the previous year...just as soon as Happy Hour is over...I have my priorities, you know.

On the other hand, who knows what these damn cats do during the day while I'm at work? They probably turn on all the lights and pry the refrigerator door open to stay cool till the time they know I'll be back--me being a creature of habit and all that. :scratchheadblue:
